Reverse Engineering Sketch

Participants study an unknown mechanical component and recreate it as an accurate 2D or 3D engineering sketch without a provided drawing or dimensions. The event tests observation, measurement, and drafting accuracy.

CHALLENGE STAGES

STAGE 1

Stage 1 — Observe & Measure (10 min)

Examine the component and take physical measurements using vernier calipers and gauges.

STAGE 2

Stage 2 — Sketch & Dimension (15 min)

Create the required orthographic and sectional views with accurate dimensioning.

STAGE 3

Stage 3 — Explain (5 min)

Explain the component’s name, manufacturing process, function, and application to judges.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  • Component will be provided without a drawing or dimensions.
  • Participants must bring basic drawing instruments.
  • Mobile phones, internet, reference books, and prepared drawings are prohibited.
  • Required front, top, side, or sectional views must be included where necessary.
  • Copying or outside assistance leads to disqualification.

SCORING AND EVALUATION

  • Scoring out of 100 based on dimensional precision, orthographic correctness, and drafting neatness.

GENERAL SYMPOSIUM GUIDELINES

Essential instructions for all registered participants attending VIYUGAM 2K26. Please review carefully to ensure seamless participation.

All participants must bring their own valid college ID cards.

Participants must carry essential articles (pen drive, standees, poster, laptops, prototypes or models) for their respective events.

Participants must abide by the final decision given by the jury panel.

All participants must follow the rules and regulations; any kind of misbehaviour, malpractice, or disruptive behaviour will result in cancellation of participation and immediate disqualification.

Lunch and appetizers will be provided to all registered participants.

Participants must register before the event begins and report to the venue on time.

Event-specific equipment, software, time limits, and participation formats will be announced by coordinators before each round.

Participants are responsible for following the rules and instructions announced before each round.
